Love Is In The Air

February is the month to celebrate love. I’m going to be honest here, I use to despise Valentine’s Day. Except as a kid. Because, who doesn’t love to get yum yums, cards and special treats?

These are a few things I use to say:

“Why celebrate Valentine’s Day? Every day is a day to celebrate love.”
“We always show love to each other.”
“Valentine’s Day is just another Hallmark holiday to make us buy more stuff, we don’t need.”
“V-Day is over rated.”

Well, some of it may be true, but my view point has changed. I have learned a few things, since becoming a momma and grown up a bit.

Yes, we do show love every day. But, life is too short not to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Why not, show the people in your life how much you love them?
Why not, shower your kiddos, friends + family with love?

It doesn’t mean we have to spend a lot of money, or break the bank. It just takes a little intentionality to make people feel special.

We are surrounded by a sea of love 😉 Look around. Creation + Nature is a way for God to tell us He loves us.  He cherishes us. He cares for us. Even when our world is crashing like waves against the rocks,  when life seems hard to handle, and we don’t have all the answers, we have to look around and see the love that surrounds us.

I thank my late mother in law for giving me this gift of love + intentionallity. She loved to celebrate each and every holiday. She always decorated her house, gave cards and little gifts to make her family + friends feel special. If you were blessed enough to know her, you would have received a little something special too.

It doesn’t take much. It just takes some thoughtful time to make people feel loved.

Take time to write a little note, cook a special meal, squeeze your kiddos and shower them with hugs + kisses. Let them know how much they mean to you. Tell them they are special and they matter.

Whether you make or buy something, it’s thoughtful and shows you care about the people in your life. Yes, Valentine’s Day is a reason to celebrate.

You are alive today. Each day is a gift. Let’s not turn our hearts away from love. Instead, take the time to celebrate this month. Open your hearts + minds and find a way to make the people you care about feel loved.

Let Your Light Shine

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:2-4

God spoke “light” into a formless, void + dark earth.

Merriam-Webster dictionary gives the following definitions for these 3 words:
Formless– without a clear or definite shape or structure
Void– Completely empty

Dark– Absence of light

In this journey of life, there will be times when we do not have a clear vision, where life seems completely empty and there is no light in sight.

But, can we breathe in a little truth right now?

Light is God’s first miracle!
Light gives us hope in dark situations.

Light gives us sight, guidance + encouragement to persevere.

In 2018, we have the opportunity to be light. To shine in this fallen and dark world.

Where there is light, there is life.

Let’s speak light + life into people, into our situations, into this world.

Let’s illuminate this year with love, truth and grace.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope you are having a blast with your loved ones and enjoying all the yummy food.

I’m thankful I get to organize + host our weekly adventures. I do this because I know the importance of unstructured nature adventures and what they do for the souls of people young + old.

Since sharing is caring, I thought it would be fun to share some really cool stores that have partnered with Nature Adventure Group. Just in case you are in the market of finding that special + unique gift for your loved ones.

Any shopping you do goes to support our SoCal Nature Adventure Group. You can find some pretty cool things to inspire a love for nature + adventure in your family.

How to Grow a Garden

October is a great time to plan + start a fall garden.

Growing your own herbs, fruits and veggies with your family is satisfying, enjoyable and rewarding. There are invaluable life lessons to be learned in the garden.

We are in the process of establishing our garden and we are having a great time doing it together. If you don’t have one already, I encourage you to start one.

Start small.

Growing herbs is a great place to start. It’s fairly easy, manageable and tasty.

You can grow them indoors and outdoors. We enjoy growing mint, because we love to make fresh tea from the garden.

This is my first time experimenting with seeds and it’s been so fun watching them grow daily. It’s a great activity to do as a family.

Gardens also attract butterfly’s, birds and bee’s, which are so wonderful for our environment + fun to watch.

My biggest tip: Just start! Okay and practically speaking, read the back of the seed package and follow the directions 😉

I hope this has inspired you to grow a little something at your house too.

Community members, schools, businesses and organizations throughout the world, will join the Drop, Cover, Hold earthquake drill.

I highly encourage you to participate. You can register your family at Shakeout.org

This is a great time to inspect household items that could fall during an earthquake and secure them.

Create an emergency family plan, refresh your emergency preparedness kit and take time to discuss the importance of being prepared as a family.

I thought I would share some of the best selling items on Amazon to help you with your emergency preparedness kit.

Off course, you could always search your house for items you already have on hand and create your own kit.

Either way, please use this as a reminder to be prepared.

Ventura Ranch KOA

We came, camped and conquered.

Our first Nature Adventure Group camping trip was a success.

The days were spent exploring the near by creek, catching frogs, hiking, swimming, ziplining, playing with friends, eating by the camp fire, full moon night adventures, smore’s, searching for big foot and tarantula’s, celebrating birthday’s and the joy of being alive.

Here’s a recap video of our time together.

Camping is lots of fun, yet lots of work. It’s nice to be in a community of friends who help and support each other. It takes a village to raise these little people.

Thank you to everyone who came. This trip was truly a wonderful adventure!!

Meal Planning Made Easy

Meal Planning.

We have this love hate relationship. I love the theory of meal planning, but I never liked spending hours it took to create a plan.

And, if I’m real honest, with out a plan, grocery shopping and cooking dinner can be a drag.  But, when I do have a plan, making dinner is fun and stress free.

In efforts to simplify life, I’m going to invest a little money, only $14/ a month and use Prep Dish as my new accountability partner.

Meal prepping will now be a breeze. Prep Dish will save me time, money, and energy.  Life will be a little easier knowing we have a refrigerator full of nutritious food.

Prep Dish makes it super simple to eat clean all year long. It provides a grocery list, prep-day and cooking instructions.

With this well thought out plan, you can be confident that your family is eating clean and healthy all week long.

If you want to try Prep Dish too, you can use this affiliate link*
